SAN DIEGO SURF CUP ANNOUNCEMENT 2010
San Diego Surf Cup, Inc. announces the SAN DIEGO SURF CUP XXX. The 30th annual Surf Cup tournament will be held July 24 - 26, and July 31, August 1 & 2, 2010. This is a Class I Tournament; open to USYSA, US Club Soccer, Super Y League, AYSO, and FIFA affiliated teams. The tournament is a nationally recognized premier tournament, rated among the top two in the United States.
All games will be played at the San Diego Polo Club, with 60 acres of manicured, level turf that are transformed into eighteen full sized soccer fields. The tournament is located only 90 minutes from Disneyland, 45 minutes from the Mexican border, and 20 minutes to all the sights of the San Diego area including the internationally renowned San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, SeaWorld, and Legoland California. Close by is the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
Most age groups will play in divisions of 16 teams. Each team is guaranteed three (3) games. Bracket play will consist of three (3) games on Saturday and Sunday. Quarterfinal matches are Sunday afternoon. Semi-Final games are played on Monday morning, and the Finals are Monday afternoon.
In 2010, the San Diego Surf Cup will host over 350 college coaches and scouts. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your player's skills. Eight borrowed players will be allowed (six for Under-10). Maximum roster size is 22 for Under-16, Under 17, and Under-18; 18 players for Under-11 through Under-15 and 14 for Under-10). If USSF Academy team divisions are created then the roster size will be unlimited. Top quality trophies as well as individual awards will be presented to teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place.

Note 1: The computerized team application system will assign your age group based on the age of your oldest registered player.
Note 2: There are two groups in the U-16, U-17, and U-18. If selected, the tournament committee alone will determine into which group teams will be placed.
How to Apply for Acceptance:
If you would like to be considered for participation, please complete the on-line tournament application. Payment of the application fee may be made by either Cashier's Check made payable to San Diego Surf Cup or by Credit Card (a convenience fee will be charged for the use of a credit card). Our on-line system will accept Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Credit cards will not be charged until the team has been accepted into the tournament. APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED SUBMITTED AND COMPLETE UNTIL EITHER A CHECK HAS BEEN RECEIVED OR A CREDIT CARD PAYMENT HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED. Entry fees are:

Entries submitted after May 28, 2010 will not be considered for acceptance but may be retained for a wait list for consideration if an accepted team drops. Entries whose payment is not received by May 28, 2010 will be considered late entries. The completed Cashiers Check (with team, gender, and age group noted on the check) and payment coupon printed from your team’s application must be mailed to:

- Refunds will be made to all teams not accepted.
- Refunds will be made if the tournament is cancelled due to weather or Acts of God, but approximately one-third of the entry fee will be retained.
- Teams that drop in writing prior to the May 28th entry deadline will be given refunds minus a $50.00 administration fee. No refunds will be granted for teams dropping after May 28th.
- Team selections are made based upon an evaluation of their record. USYS National Cup (previously known as the Snickers National Cup) State and Regional results as well as results in major tournaments. Head to head results against ranked teams. League results and overall record will be used to break ties.
Acceptance notifications will be e-mailed by June 4, 2010. Early acceptance may be granted for teams traveling from outside Cal South, with the decision made within two (2) weeks after receiving the application provided the application and payment is received no later than May 14, 2010.
Applications will be accepted from teams affiliated with USYSA, US Club Soccer, Super Y League, AYSO, and FIFA affiliated youth soccer associations outside of the United States. Teams must declare their affiliation on the application form. Once declared, teams will not be allowed to participate if using documentation other than from the declared affiliation.
Hotel Requirements:
Teams using hotel rooms are required to obtain them from our approved hotels, using the group reservation procedure established by Surf Cup and our hotel partners. Reservations will not be available until a team has been accepted into the tournament. The approved hotel list and procedure is available on our web site, www.surfcup.com, and complete reservation procedures will be made available via the on-line application system once a team has been accepted.

Registration and Scheduling:
There will be a MANDATORY REGISTRATION on either Friday, July 23rd (for younger teams) or July 30th (for older teams). Failure to register will result in disqualification.
Either 2009/2010 or 2010/2011 player identification cards, medical release forms, and shin guards are required for each player. For USYS teams not affiliated with Cal South, travel papers approved by your state association are required; for US Club, AYSO, or Super Y League teams, approved team rosters must be presented. For International entrants, written permission to travel will be required from your governing body. For all teams, medical release forms are required.
Game schedules will not be adjusted to accommodate individual teams or individual coach conflicts.
All team travel arrangements must be made to include participation in the mandatory registration on Friday evening and two (2) bracket games on Saturday and one on Sunday. The earliest bracket games begin at 8:00 a.m. The last final on Monday will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Referees:
Surf Cup will host top quality referees with State and FIFA Badges. All games will be officiated with a 3-man system.
